1. Intro

The SimCom Module is a powerful chip that can be turned into a trace mobile. The cost of the hardware is around 150 USD:

  1. SimCom SIM5210 (User Manual)

It is possible to trace almost every communication between each of the chips and also some (all?) GSM Rx/Tx traffic.

  1. Does the trace contain TCH traffic?
  2. Is it possible to tune it to a different ARFCN?

  3. Ring the manufacture/developers of the device & software. Ask them how the format is and/or other questions.

4. Howto use the software for dummies

  1. Connect the module (com port)
  2. Start QPST
  3. Start QXDM
  4. Press F5 to select a filter. Press F1 to view the trace in realtime. Right click to export/save.
